Steadfast You Will Be (Song)

Throughout the ages You have been hated.
The chosen few, they seek your name.
Some stay strong, others have faded.
Though we change your always the same.

I'll only ever cling to you
You're always there to guide me through
When I'm blind and cannot see

Ch.
The darkness will surround me.
The waters come to drown me.
And my world may crash around me,
And all else is so unstable,
Yet steadfast you will be.

Those who are envied seem to have it all.
The foolish ones, they waste all their days.
All shall fade, worldliness will fall,
But God, You will remain always.

I'll only ever cling to you
Please help me to keep faith in you
When I'm afraid to see.

Lasting Treasure

Some girls dream of fame and money,
Of castles flowing with milk and honey,
A life that's always bright and sunny,
And dream of always having plenty.

Fame and money will fill one with pride.
Reality and castles will always collide.
The storms of life will leave our souls tried.
God uses those storms to change us inside.

No, the things that will last must be our desire.
We must ask our Lord to set us on fire,
And give us strength that we may not tire,
That we may take joy in all he requires.

So store up those dreams and treasures on high,
And your joy and your blessings, they'll never die.
What the world has to offer leaves one barren and dry,
For heaven is where our lasting treasures lie.

By Candace M.

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where nether moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6: 19-21

Journey Toward Commitment (The Change)

I feel so alone.
My future is bleak.
I can't keep going.
I'm small and week.
-
My life is hard,
And cold, and dreary.
I have lost hope.
My soul is weary.
-
I fear the future.
I'm drowning in tears.
My life is fading,
Taken over with fears.
-
Everything's dark.
There is no light.
Or is that because
My eyes are shut tight.
-
A gentle hand reaches,
Softly touches my eyes.
Now they're opened I see
My fears were all lies.
-
I know by His touch,
My fears are all vain.
I give him my life.
He bears all my pain.
-
My heart is bursting.
He was there all along.
He helped me to see
That with Him I belong.
-
He showes me He loves me.
He holds me in tight.
Though I'm undeserving,
He clothes me in white.
-
If I stay beside Him
He lights my way.
One step at a time
We'll conquer each day.

When Words Fail

How can we express what we feel in words,
As we look at the mountains and listen to birds.
No tongue can tell how it stirs us inside,
When we stand in the ocean and feel the tide.
How do we speak when words do not come;
We don't we just stand there and look really dumb!

The Couple Who Snored

This poem was written the day after I had the experience that this poem describes.

I lay in the dark, in the silence, counting sheep,
When all of the sudden the couple starts to snore!
All the cats of the world and pigs of the ages,
Would plead, if they heard, to be locked in their cages,
'Cause terror would strike them to the very core,
For who has heard such a sound before?
I had lost all hope of catching sleep.

I lay there with a grin, until an hour past.
I was having a nightmare while still awake.
With ear plugs in and pillows on my head,
I could still hear the noise as I lay on my bed.
Could someone please get me and drown me in the lake.
Maybe there I'll get some rest, oh for pity's sake.
But overcome with tiredness I finally slept at last.

This life is a whisper

She stared, amazed, at the palm of her hand.
What sparkled there was common sand.

She was speechless, overcome with emotion,
The thousandth time she stood in the ocean.

A lonely tear stood still in her eye,
As she lay and watched the starry sky.

She laughed aloud and sang along,
When one little bird chirped his song.

In her heart she knew full well,
That all of creation lives to tell

And whisper of our Ancient of days.
Her heart joined in to give him praise!

In life’s blessing or human blunder,
She saw God’s hand and gazed in wonder.

Years made her old, and her death was the start,
Of joy bigger than galaxies, and God held her heart!

He Gave You Life

All the fiery stars in the heavens,
All you shining heavenly hosts,
Lift your voice in songs of praise,
To Him who deserves it most!

All the living peoples on Earth,
All who hate the one of strife,
Lift your hands in fervent praise,
To the one who gave you life!
